Ought Not To, Ought To: Oxfords
Guess what?! It's still summer! And that means there's still plenty of time to wear all the summer shoes.
At this point, I don't think it would be politically correct to pull out your boots just yet. Everyone's still in summer mode. And as far as they're concerned, summer is never gonna end. And you don't want to break their hearts by strutting around in boots and giving them the shock of their lives, now do you?
Give them one more week. That's my rule. When the end of August rolls around, sandals and flats go out the window and I'm comfortably settled in my boots. Don't get me wrong - I love summer. It's my favorite season. But I like the apparel that comes with the colder seasons a whole lot more than I like summer garments. Footwear included. So I enjoy wearing boots more than I enjoy wearing sandals and flats.
Well, now that you've been reassured that you have a whole week more to wear your summer shoes, let's talk about those summer shoes. We've covered slip-on sneakers and gladiator sandals so far, and now it's time to feature another one of summer's hottest shoe picks - the oxford.
I'll admit, I was never a huge oxford shoe fan. But that was because up until this season, designers were only producing flat oxfords. And I don't like flat oxfords (or flat shoes in general - I'm 5 foot 1 and a half). But this year, stores were suddenly being flooded (that's a bit of an exaggeration) with platform oxfords. And this new phenomenon was very much appreciated by me.
You want proof? You see those SIXTYSEVEN platform oxfords above? I have em. They're awesome.
But I also have some flat oxford options here for ya'll. I don't know why, but I'm feeling so generous today! Just generous enough to realize that lots of people don't like platform oxfords just like I don't like flat ones.
Just a warning: I'm gonna start shoving boots in your face next week.
