A winter heel. The title itself sounds like an oxymoron. Winter and heels don't usually go hand-in-hand. I mean, slushy, icy, snow-filled sidewalks combined with freezing temperatures don't exactly make for the ideal heel weather or the easiest transport by foot, even in the sturdiest of snow boots. So imagine doing the trek in heels.

But. Even so. There are still some occasions that require the formality of heels, even in the wintertime. Parties happen, dinners happen, weddings happen, fancy things happen in the winter. And these situations require heels.

Enter: winter heels, ie heels that have a closed-toe. Or heels made out of the most wintery of materials - velvet. Or heels that have furry embellishments on them. These are the types of heels that I consider winter heels. And these are the types of heels you'll find in the collage above.

So, above are forty-four closed-toe heels, velvet heels, and furry heels, pictured in ascending price order. Happy winter heel shopping!
